The The Implementation of Surface Strategy Taxonomy Through Report Text Translation

The aims of this research is to find out grammar mistakes and obstacles in learning English through writing. Through writing, students can improve their understanding by paying close attention the content. implementation CRS meant enhance STMIK STIKOM Indonesia. And Surface Strategy Taxonomy (SST) done documentation students’ work translation. data source taken from a report text Indonesian as language translated it into target language. In order know benefit SST, are given questionnaire gain data. Data collection results translations sheets. 68 translation show that there 98 error found 4 kinds (errors omission, addition, mis-ordering mis-formation) each kind has its own sub-kind errors (SKE). biggest omission with 39 (39,8%) lowest 12 (12,2%). Omission 2 SKE, those grammatical morpheme 23 (23,5%) content 16 (16,3%). Addition 29 (29,6%) SKE simple addition (16,3%), 13 double (13,3%). Mis-ordering (12,2%) misplacement verbs (4,0%) 8 misplacements words/items (8,1%). Mis-formation 18 5 alternating form/ prepositions (5,1%), 6 oriented lexical/quantifiers (6,1%) tenses 7 (7,1%). There were 9 agreement between demonstrative pronoun noun (9,1%) number apostrophe s verb (4,0%). shows SST does help where 30 (46,2%) said they mistake, 24 (36,9%) stated about words’ choice/diction 11 (16,9%) helps them grammar.
